Certified Workflow Architect (CWA™)

The specialized certification for mapping, designing, and orchestrating high-performance workflows.

Master the discipline of workflow mapping and design, and learn how to build predictable, scalable, and efficient workflows across teams, tools, and technologies.

For operations builders, workflow designers, systems thinkers, and execution-oriented professionals.

What is CWA™?

Certified Workflow Architect (CWA™) is WMI’s specialized credential designed for professionals who want to master the architecture of work.

CWA™ validates your ability to:

  • Map workflows with professional-level clarity

  • Identify bottlenecks, handoff failures & failure modes

  • Design scalable systems built around efficiency & predictability

  • Integrate automation and AI into workflows

  • Build cross-functional workflow orchestration

  • Maintain workflow quality at scale

If CAWM™ is the foundation and WMP™ is the professional core, CWA™ is the technical specialty of WMI’s certification pathway.

Why Earn the CWA™ Credential?

Stand out as a true workflow specialist
While most professionals struggle to define or map workflows, CWA™ signals technical mastery in architecture, mapping, and optimization.
Build workflows that scale with clarity and predictability
Organizations increasingly depend on workflows — but few people know how to design them well. CWA™ puts you in the top tier.
Become the workflow expert inside your organization
Workflow architects are quickly becoming vital roles as AI and automation reshape how teams get work done.
Master a differentiator skill that sets you apart
Workflow mapping + workflow design + automation = a skill stack in enormous demand across modern organizations.

Certification Requirements

To earn the Certified Workflow Architect (CWA™) credential, learners must:

  • Complete all CWA™ modules

  • Pass the CWA™ Certification Exam

  • Submit a Workflow Architecture Capstone Project
